Hi guys,
I thought I would update you on my recent trip to Harefield. It was such a tiring day, I'm currently in Heartlands right now on IVS, aminphylline, fluids and 24hr Oxygen and I've just started my sencond week and so far no improvement, ANYWAY, it was an early start Dad picked me up at 6.am to get to the clinic appointment for 9. I slept most of the way there because I had barely slept the night before just to Harefield running through my mind. Once we got there we signed in and I went straight into have an Echo which came back ok! Then I had Sprio, which had gone down slightly to 24% which annoyed me a bit, but it was kind of excepted. X-ray went fine, nothing had really drastically changed there which was bit of an up, and my ECG was fine, so on a whole everything wasn't too bad.
After Lunch, we got the first appointment with my Doctor and that's where it all hit me how real all this was. He first started talking about patients being stable and that sometimes if you're stable it's harder to get a transplant soon as people frequently get put in front of you and for my size and blood type there was a good 20 people in front of me. Great, was this his way of telling me there is a good chance I may never get a transplant? My breathing all of a sudden quicken, and the tables turned! He said looking at your results and all your recent admissions you're actually iller than we originally thought. My heart speed up even more. Oh. He said that I was going into hospital far too much for this not to be a concern. I could feel my eyes starting to water and my dad suck in his breath and tense. He then carried on to say that the form you filled in for us 6 months ago states what Lungs you were willing to receive and although it is your choice you were very picky, and so you should, however, one thing you should know is that we would never give you lungs that we thought would bring you harm in your future, you know longer are in the situation that you can be so picky, so we need you to reevaluate and possibly change what lungs you will receive because I honestly think we need to move you higher on to the transplant this. Well, it took all I had to not break down in front of everybody, that was furthest away from the news that I was expecting to hear, especially as he started talking about being stable. So here I am nearly 5 months on the transplant list and waiting.
Hope you're all healthy
